Buffer & Support Idlers
For special requirements, ERBÖ also offers buffer and support idlers on the basis of the traditional proven system of our standard idlers.
Buffer idlers, also known as cushion idlers, are principally installed on the upper conveyor strand in areas where a belt conveyor specially needs to be protected. The buffer rings are tightly arranged all over the rollers’ width, which provides them with damping features that, for example, serve as loading and transfer points’ bounce protection.
Support idlers are installed when the upper strand of a belt gets dirty or humid and has to be led back on the bottom strand. Experienced the friction between rubber belt and idlers gets reduced due to the dirty or humid belt surface, thanks to the installation of support idlers the neccessary friction will be recovered which consequently enables a safer belt guidance. The distance between support rings is arbitrary and can be fixed permanently with a spacer ring.
